LIVE EVENTS

PAST EXPERIENCE
In only a short time after relocating to the upstate New York Capital District in 2001, I was very pleased and excited about the quality, quantity and affordability of the live music offerings, as I noted in this Fall 2001 APFJ newsletter article

While I still traveled occasionally back to Manhattan and visited Boston to see particular artists, I’ve found myself doing that less and less over the past few years, as there are very many excellent venues here in the Capital District, such as those included in the venues web pages of the two fine web sites of A Place for Jazz & Albanyjazz.com

Recently, I created a list identifying the particular venues (concert halls and clubs/restaurants) that I have found in the last six years to most consistently present quality Jazz artists in ways that I personally have most enjoyed - Selected Capital District Music Venues.

STOCKADE INN

My particular favorite over the past two years is definitely the Stockade Inn in Schenectady, which I’ve found to be a model of all the “right” things to do in presenting music. The list of advantages that attracts my wife and me back there frequently is fairly long:
            -    Top quality artists (see below)

-         Very accommodating service

-         Excellent & affordable food and drinks

-         No cover charge

-         Very classy atmosphere

-         Convenient hours (7 PM – 10 PM)

-         Very friendly, respectful clientele

Some of the many fine musicians we have enjoyed there include:

- FrancescaTanksley - Web site
- Jeanne O'Connor - Web site

        -  Lee Shaw - Web site
